Primal Performance Series Adjustable Ab Bench

The Primal Performance Series Adjustable Ab Bench is a commercial sit up and crunch bench with an adjustable bench angle and adjustable foot supports, so users can make core work easier or harder by changing the slope. It occupies 1655 × 670 mm of floor, stands 1058 mm high and weighs 51.8 kg.

Steeper settings add load without any plates, which makes it simple to progress members from beginner crunches to hard decline sit ups on the same bench.

Core muscles worked and training uses

Trunk flexion on an angled bench loads the abdominals through a long range, and adding a twist brings in the obliques.

• Primary: rectus abdominis
• Secondary: obliques and hip flexors
• Decline sit ups and crunches, progressed by increasing the angle
• Weighted sit ups holding a plate or medicine ball for strength focused core work
• Twisting sit ups and planks for rotation and anti extension control in circuits

Frequently asked questions

How much space should I allow for the Adjustable Ab Bench?

The bench is 1655 mm long, 670 mm wide and 1058 mm high. Add around 600 mm of clear space all round so users can get on and off and move their arms freely, giving a zone of about 2.9 × 1.9 m.

How do users add resistance?

There is no weight stack. Difficulty comes from the angle of the bench and the user's bodyweight, and stronger members can hold a plate or medicine ball across the chest for extra load.

What ceiling height is needed?

The frame is 1058 mm tall and users sit up towards the foot end rather than reaching overhead, so any standard 2.4 m ceiling works.

Is there a warranty?

Yes. Primal Strength provides a full commercial use warranty of 5 years on the frame, 3 years on parts (parts only) and 1 year on pads and upholstery.

Can you deliver to my gym in Australia?

Yes. We ship Australia-wide from our Melbourne warehouse, and most metro deliveries arrive 1 to 7 business days after dispatch. It is packed at 59.3 kg in a 1700 × 635 × 265 mm box. A few regional addresses need a freight quote, so use the Ask about this machine form on this page for a delivery and installation quote.

Is an ab bench worth it if we already have adjustable benches?

Most adjustable benches do not have foot supports built for sit ups, so users end up hooking their feet under dumbbells. A dedicated ab bench gives a secure foot anchor and a range of angles made for core work.
