Primal Performance Series Angled Hack Squat
The Primal Performance Series Angled Hack Squat is a plate loaded hack squat with four extended bullhorns and a 350 kg load capacity, built for busy commercial gyms and performance centres. The sled starts at 50 kg unloaded, and the machine needs 2198 × 1636 mm of floor at 1463 mm high.
Range adjusters and several start positions let each user set a safe depth, while the adjustable foot plate and narrow angled head pad keep the body lined up under heavy load.
Who it is for
- Commercial gyms that want a heavy duty squat machine for serious leg days
- Performance centres loading athletes heavily with less spinal stress than a barbell
- PT studios coaching squat depth with adjustable range limits
- Lifters with back or balance limits on free barbell squats
Key features
- Four extended bullhorns for big plate loads, up to a 350 kg capacity
- Multi position range adjusters and several start positions to set each user's depth
- Adjustable angle composite foot plate with an anti slip surface
- Narrow angled head pad that supports spinal alignment
- Sealed linear bearings on stainless steel roller tubing for a smooth sled
- Transition safety step for getting in and out under load
- 3 mm steel frame, urethane injection moulded pads and antibacterial upholstery
- Built in Olympic plate storage, rubber handles and anti slip floor protectors
Muscles worked and training uses
A hack squat puts the back against a sliding sled so the legs can be loaded heavily through a deep squat without balancing a bar.
- Primary: quads and glutes
- Secondary: hamstrings, adductors and calves
- Heavy quad focused squats with a narrow, low foot position
- Glute and hamstring bias with the feet set higher on the plate
- Controlled depth work using the range adjusters
- Paused squats at the bottom position for strength out of the hole

Frequently asked questions
How much space does the Angled Hack Squat need?
It measures 2198 mm long, 1636 mm wide and 1463 mm high. Leave around 600 mm clear on each side for loading the four bullhorns and walking in, so plan for a zone of about 3.4 × 2.8 m.
How much weight can it take?
It is plate loaded with 50 mm Olympic plates (not included). The sled weighs 50 kg before any plates go on, and Primal rates the machine at 350 kg capacity.
What ceiling height do I need?
The machine is only 1463 mm tall and the movement runs along the angled sled, not overhead, so a standard 2.4 m ceiling is enough.
Is it safe to train heavy on my own?
The range adjusters set a stopping point for the sled, and the transition safety step helps users get in and out of position under load, which makes solo training much safer than a free barbell squat.
What warranty does it come with?
Primal Strength states a full commercial use warranty of 5 years on the frame, 3 years on parts, and 1 year on pads, cables, pulleys and wearables, plus 1 year labour.
Do you deliver and install in Australia?
Yes. We ship Australia-wide from our Melbourne warehouse, and most metro deliveries arrive 1 to 7 business days after dispatch. This is a heavy machine at 314.5 kg packed, so plan access to your floor, and some regional addresses need a freight quote. Building a leg zone? Pair the Hack Squat with a Primal leg press and leg extension for a complete plate loaded lower body line.
