Primal Performance Series Standing Preacher Curl
The Primal Performance Series Standing Preacher Curl is a standing preacher and Scott curl bench for barbells or dumbbells, with spotter catchers on both sides to rest the bar. It works at 45 or 90 degrees, occupies 1284 × 821 mm of floor and stands 1151 mm high.
Curling standing, with the arm locked against the pad, gives strict biceps work without a seat to adjust between users, which keeps a busy arm station moving.
Who it is for
- Commercial gyms with a busy free weights area
- PT studios that want quick changeovers between clients
- Strength and conditioning facilities programming arm accessory work
- Users who prefer a standing curl to a seated one
Key features
- Two working angles, 45 and 90 degrees, to change the curl position
- Spotter catchers on each side that protect the barbell and hold it between sets
- Takes dumbbells or barbells for preacher and Scott curls
- Heavy duty steel frame from 3 mm tubing for high traffic facilities
- Anti bacterial, anti sweat pad material made for hard daily use
Muscles worked and training uses
Standing behind the pad pins the upper arm in place, so the elbow flexors do the lifting and body swing is taken out of the curl.
- Primary: biceps brachii and brachialis
- Secondary: brachioradialis and forearm flexors
- Heavy barbell Scott curls with the bar racked on the catchers between sets
- Switching between the 45 and 90 degree settings across a block for variety
- One arm dumbbell work for side to side balance
- Arm supersets alongside triceps work

Frequently asked questions
How much floor space does the Standing Preacher Curl need?
The bench is 1284 mm long, 821 mm wide and 1151 mm high. With about 600 mm free around it, allow a zone of roughly 2.5 × 2.0 m.
What weights does it use?
It is a free weight bench with no stack. Bring your own barbell, EZ bar or dumbbells, and rest the bar on the side catchers between sets.
Do I need a high ceiling?
No. It is 1151 mm tall and the curl stays in front of the body, so a standard ceiling is fine.
Why have both 45 and 90 degree settings?
Changing the pad angle changes the arm position and where the curl feels hardest, so users can vary the exercise and shift the emphasis across the arm without moving to another bench.
What warranty does it come with?
Primal Strength states a full commercial use warranty of 5 years on the frame and 1 year on the pads.
