How much floor space does the RowErg need?

Allow 2440 mm long by 610 mm wide in use, plus a little clearance behind the seat for the user to get on and off. Stored upright it takes about 640 x 840 mm of floor, and split in two pieces it fits in a cupboard or car boot.

What does the damper setting actually do?

The damper controls how much air enters the flywheel housing. A higher setting feels like a heavier boat, a lower setting like a lighter one. It does not set the resistance the way a magnetic bike does. Most people train between 3 and 5. The PM5 reads the drag factor so results are comparable across machines.

Does it need power?

No. The PM5 runs on two D cell batteries and the flywheel charges them while you row, so you can put it anywhere in the gym.

How does it compare to a water rower or a magnetic rower?

The RowErg is the machine used for indoor rowing competitions and CrossFit, so it is the one members expect. Air resistance responds to effort instantly, parts are available for decades, and the PM5 gives accurate, comparable numbers. Water rowers look good but are heavier to move and cost more to service.

What is the warranty?

Concept2 covers the frame for 5 years and all other parts, including the PM5 monitor, for 2 years. Warranty is handled in Australia through Concept2 Australia and our team.
