The Primal Performance Series Club Hyper Extension is a commercial back extension bench for training the lower back, glutes, hamstrings and core with bodyweight, a plate or a dumbbell. It has a 1380 × 755 mm footprint, stands 885 mm high and weighs 57.7 kg, so it slots into a strength or functional area without taking over the floor.

The height adjusts to suit short and tall members, and wheels plus a handle let staff roll it out of the way when the floor is needed for classes.

Who it is for

  • Commercial gyms adding posterior chain work to the free weights area
  • PT studios that want a back extension station clients can set up quickly
  • Strength and conditioning programs building hip extension strength for running, jumping and lifting
  • Functional training zones where equipment gets moved around between sessions

Key features

  • Height adjustable frame so the hip pad lines up correctly for users of different heights
  • Heavy duty steel frame made for daily commercial use
  • Urethane injection moulded pads with anti sweat, antibacterial upholstery that is easy to keep clean
  • Cushioned PU foam that holds its shape under repeated heavy use
  • Anti slip rubber feet that keep the bench planted and protect the floor
  • Wheels and a handle for moving and storing the bench

Muscles worked and training uses

A hyperextension trains hip extension and spinal extension with the legs anchored, a simple way to build the muscles that support deadlifts, squats and sprinting.

  • Primary: spinal erectors (lower back) and glutes
  • Secondary: hamstrings and deep core stabilisers
  • Back extensions and glute biased hyperextensions for accessory work after heavy lower body sessions
  • Loaded extensions holding a plate or dumbbell for progressive overload
  • Low load, higher rep sets in warm ups and general population programs to build lower back endurance

Frequently asked questions

How much room does the Club Hyper Extension take up?

It measures 1380 mm long, 755 mm wide and 885 mm high. Leave about 600 mm of clear space around it for getting on and off and for the upper body to move through its range, which gives a zone of roughly 2.0 × 1.4 m.

How is it loaded and how much weight can it take?

There is no weight stack. Users train with bodyweight, or hold a plate, dumbbell or kettlebell against the chest to add load. Check the rated capacity with our team before programming very heavy loaded work.

Do I need a high ceiling?

No. The bench is 885 mm tall and the movement happens forward and down from the hip pad, not overhead, so a standard 2.4 m ceiling is plenty.

What is the warranty?

Primal Strength covers it for full commercial use: 5 years on the frame, 3 years on parts (parts only) and 1 year on pads and upholstery.

Can you deliver it in Australia?

Yes. We ship Australia-wide from our Melbourne warehouse, and most metro orders arrive 1 to 7 business days after dispatch. It weighs 62.7 kg packed, so it travels easily, although some regional addresses still need a freight quote. Use the Ask about this machine form on this page for a delivery and installation quote.

Is a hyperextension the same as a GHD?

Not quite. A hyperextension like this one is a dedicated back extension bench. A glute ham developer has a longer frame with length and height adjustment and a footplate, so it adds glute ham raises but needs more floor space.
