Primal Performance Series Compact Stair Climber with LED Console

The Primal Performance Series Stair Climber is a compact commercial stair machine with 20 resistance levels and a 150 kg maximum user weight, made for gyms, PT studios and home gyms that want hard, low impact cardio in a small footprint. It measures 1750 × 810 mm on the floor and stands 1765 mm tall.

Climbing stairs works the legs and glutes with every step while driving the heart rate up quickly, so members get conditioning and lower body endurance from the same session. The narrow 810 mm frame lets it slot into a cardio row where a treadmill would not fit.

Who it is for

• Commercial gyms adding a stair climber to the cardio floor without giving up a treadmill sized space
• PT studios running conditioning finishers and interval sessions
• Home gyms with the ceiling height to suit (see the FAQ below)
• Performance centres building aerobic capacity and leg endurance in athletes

Key features

• 20 resistance levels to take users from an easy warm up to a hard climb
• LED console tracking 14 metrics, including heart rate, distance and calories per minute
• Intensity keys on the console and on the hand grips, so users can change pace without letting go
• Three active pedal steps with a low 30 cm entry step for easier mounting
• Infrared safety sensors for quick stops, plus side safety rails
• Steel frame rated to 150 kg maximum user weight
• Sweat resistant side panels for easy cleaning and transport wheels for moving it around the floor

Muscles worked and training benefits

Stair climbing is weight bearing cardio: every step lifts the body against gravity, so the legs and glutes work hard while the joints avoid the pounding of running.

• Primary: quadriceps and glutes
• Secondary: hamstrings, calves and core for posture and balance
• Steady state aerobic sessions for endurance and calorie burn
• Interval work using the hand grip keys to switch between hard and easy levels
• Low impact conditioning for members who find running uncomfortable

Frequently asked questions

What ceiling height do I need for this stair climber?

More than the machine height suggests. The frame is 1765 mm tall, but users stand on the moving steps, starting from a 300 mm entry step, and rise as they climb. Add your tallest user's height to the step height and leave about 150 mm of headroom: for a 1.9 m user that is already around 2.35 m. We suggest a ceiling of at least 2.4 m and ideally 2.7 m or more, and check for fans, lights and beams directly above.

How much floor space does it take?

It measures 1750 mm long, 810 mm wide and 1765 mm high. Allow around 600 mm of clear space around it, especially behind the steps for safe dismounting, so plan on a zone of about 3.0 × 2.0 m.

How many resistance levels does it have?

There are 20 resistance levels. Users can change them from the console or with the keys on the hand grips while they climb.

What is the maximum user weight?

The steel frame is rated for users up to 150 kg.

What warranty is included?

Primal Strength covers it for commercial use with 5 years on the frame and 2 years on parts and labour.

Do you deliver and install in Australia?

Yes. We ship Australia-wide from our Melbourne warehouse, with most metro deliveries arriving 1 to 7 business days after dispatch. It ships in two boxes weighing about 214 kg in total, so some regional addresses need a freight quote. Use the Ask about this machine form on this page for a delivery and installation quote.

Is it suitable for a home gym?

Yes, Primal lists it for home, PT studio and commercial use. Ceiling height is the main thing to check, followed by access: the larger box is 1455 × 830 × 1115 mm.
